I guess you mean if i'll open it? I think i'll send it back to the shop. >Any chance on finding out the I/O chips in that samson? It shows inputs and outputs in the first run but after that the outputs disappear.

The secondrun shows the Zoom driver after Reaper has crashed. The xpsettings shows the USB AUDIO CODEC (the Zoom driver isn't available on that list ever). It didn't make any difference if there was Zoom driver installed or not. I also tried to record with Audacity (for comparison) and it offered the USB AUDIO CODEC and recorded without problems. Seems that the only way it "really" works is with Waveout and without the Asio4all. Whatever i did it only showed the inputs not the outputs. after that the Reaper crashed and had only Zoom inputs. Was able to select the Zoom driver and it had inputs and outputs. Because of that the tracks didn't stay in sync. I could hear the sounds directly from zoom without latency but the recordings had terrible latency. I was able to hear and record via waveout. After that i wasn't able to hear anything. Was able to hear and record from Reaper but it crashed in about 2 minutes. It would really help to see a screenshot of one of your Tracks in Record-Arm mode. Also it would be nice if it was possible to hear the input from microphone :)Ĭan you try using the Wave Out mode of REAPER instead of using ASIO and see if you can hear input and/or output? I expect that you'll have to use Wave Out in order to use the Samson with REAPER. I would like to be able to record with the microphone and also hear the previously recorded tracks.

My guess is that Audacity is using the Wave Out drivers for playback, not ASIO. Your screenshot "audacity-settings.gif" shows the Soundblaster as the playback device, not the Zoom. The sounds can be heard from Zoom without any latency.

When recording in Audacity the recording device says "USB AUDIO CODEC" in both playback and recording device. How do you know it recorded if there is no playback? Do you see a waveform on the screen? I managed to get the Reaper to record Zoom but without any playback (It did recognize the Zoom driver inputs and outputs). I must be doing something wrong or the way Reaper handles these USB devices is somehow different. I like the ability to run VST instruments easily and the program response is good. I like how Reaper works and feel that i've found ideal solution for homebased recording. With Reaper i've only managed to record with Zoom (no playback during or afterwards) and with microphone (no playback during or afterwards). I'm also able to record with the microphone but if i want to hear what i'm recording the latency is killing me. With Zoom it works 100%without any problems. I am able to use Audacity to some degree.

is there anything i can do to resolve the problems? Somehow i'm getting the vibes that i'm stuck in the mud. >Are there any analog out on the Samson, for monitoring? I got the microphone today and was curious if i could make it to work easier.

I'll happily uninstall any of them if not needed. Now i have Zoom driver, Asio4all and the creative driver. The Zoom worked when plugged (without Zoom's own drivers that i installed yesterday). I only had creative drivers and nothing else. I don't really need to run them simultaneously and i had these problems before i even had the microphone. >You cannot use two different driver running asio. I'm not trying to be hard headed.I'm just worried about messing the whole system up without a good reason ) Thanks again for your thoughts and comments! After installing the Zoom driver the reaper does notice it (zoom driver) but it doesn't work. And that's why i tried installing the zoom driver. The problem is how i can select it from reaper to record. I can record to audacity (it also worked with cubase when i had it), play along cd's etc. If i only connect the Zoom and not select anything, i can hear all the computer sounds directly from the zoom. I guess it's more for computers that don't initially have the right driver (asio?) >Do you have any other audio application open on your system? I don't remember these drivers working this good ever.Įven tried guitar combos that didn't work so great with asio4all and now they worked ok. I managed to set the driver to 2 ms latency. Well, i previously had those drivers but after installing everything from scratch (changed hard-disk etc.) i noticed that the creative drivers worked without problems.
